Abstract
ABSTRACT
Nigerian cultural heritage in the field of architecture is becoming too difficult to preserve due to the arrival of modern technology and international style. Corporate building in Nigerian urban centre have embraced today's broader AESTHETICS with little or no regional expression. With the rent drive towards nationalism, I attempted as my own little contribution architecturally, the task of carrying out
an exploration into our rich architectural history of some selected traditional architecture in the country in the search
for common features or design elements with the aims of synthesis and fusing them together to give us a regiona1 identity.
Although I must make it clear that in order not to end up with an architecture that is too primitive and unpleasant within the current 1eve1 international1y, tradition will on1y be used here as a catalyst, the principle of modern architecture still remains the moderator. It is believed that
this is within the architect sphere of influence would mean identifying ,with the average user of the designed space.
To achieve the task, the Nigerian institute of International Affairs Office complex Abuja has been chosen to praticalise the attempted proposal, and at the same time
sell's OUR architectural potential to the international community.
