Two crop yield models, Jensen (1968) and Bras and Codova (1981), multiplicative and additive models respectfully were evaluated by developing a relationship between crop yields and seasonal evapotranspiration for tomato in Kaduna, Nigeria, under conditions of moisture stress caused by evapotranspiration deficits at three growth stages. Tomato (lycopersicon esculentum) TI539 variety was planted in the Kaduna Polytechnic farm, Nariya, Kaduna during the 2005/2006 irrigation season. Evapotranspiration deficits were created by withholding irrigation 3,5 and 7days in excess of the regular 7-days irrigation interval at each of the three stages of growth considered. The stress sensitivity factors for the two models were estimated for the three growth stages studied and their accuracy and predictability of crop yields were also tested. The result showed that strong linear relationships exist between fruit yield and seasonal evapotranspiration within the limits tested. A seasonal evapotranspiration of between 530 and 460mm was observed with a corresponding fruit yield of between 20 – 43t/ha. The two crop yield models evaluated were found to have adequately predicted crop yield with Jensen (1968) giving a better prediction. It was also found from the stress sensitivity factor determined that moisture stress at the vegetative growth stage of tomato will significantly reduce fruit yielden_US
