In this research work, the human and material resources for the education of the archivists in Nigerian Universities were studied, using Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Bayero University Kano, University of Ibadan and Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, as the reference points. The research design adopted was the survey methods. Personal on the spot observations, oral interview and questionnaires were employed as instruments for data collection. The research data were analysed using descriptive statistical method. The results showed that out of a total of six lecturers teaching archives courses in the four Universities reviewed only four of them were fully qualified, as archivist lecturers. With the exception of the University of Ibadan which has a well developed archives unit , the material resources in other three Universities were found to be inadequate for educating archivists. Recommendations were made for remedying the situations.en_US
