dc.description.abstractTopic: Post-graduate hall of residence for the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Purpose: The main aim of this thesis is to evolve a desing for a post-graduate hall complex for A.B.U. Up to date such a facility has been non existent in the University, unlike other Unverities of its standing which all have post-graduate halls, This has resulted in the accommodation of post-graduate students in the same hostel blocks with pre-degree and under-graduate students, whose live styles are must times too boistrous to afford the post-graduate students the matured and ideal enviroment necessary to enhance the pursuit of their academic goals to the highest optimum. Brief: The hall complex is designed to accommodate 840 students (640 male, 200 female). The accommodation units are broken up into ten pairs of hostel blocks, one block in a pair accommodating 44 students while the other 40, Each pair inclcuses an open courtyard. Other associated faciliteis include, the dinning hall/kitchen, Administration building and boat jetty. Site: The site for the complex as defined by the A.B.U. master plan is an area next to the "Extension to the main campus" and bordered on the South by the A.B.U. reservoir (Kubani lake.)en_US
