dc.description.abstractLeisure and Recreation in a scenic and well-landscaped environment increases the demand for both the design and u t i l i s a t i on of p r i v a t e and commercial spaces to house the various f a c i l i t i es and/or systems. These may range from Indoor or Outdoor a c t i v i t i e s . , passive or active in n a t u r e. This t h e s i s is c a r r i e d out in order to make provision for conducive environment by u t i l i s i n g the available natural physical and climatic conditions found on the Jos-plateau Generally in a design of t h i s s o r t , where various people and a c t i v i t i es are involved, strong l o g i c a l reasoning comer, into play. It is important to note however that Tor logic to be acceptable in design, it should be based on some premises which already hare bearing of p a r t i c u l a r emphasis. Thus careful, s t u d i e s and a n a l y s i s of the socio-economic and environmental factors r e l a t ed to the improvement, and promotion of l e i s u r e and r e c r e a t i on are c a r r i e d ou in and around the area of study. Today, we are faced with new and challenging environmental problems of land use, conservation design and planning for l e i s u re and r e c r e a t i o n purposes, a r a t i o n a l approach to the s o l u t i o n of such problems draws upon the e a r t h , the b i o l o g i c a l sciences, the p r i n c i p l e of conservation as well as the behavioural and s o c i a l sciences The health of the ecosystem and the people i s the basis on which concepts are developed.
