Abstract
• • ABSTRACT Mixed-Use in buildings is gaining more acceptance as evident in a number of Central Business Districts (CBD) in major cities across the globe. In Nigeria, purpose built mixed-use structures are rare and still at its infancy stage. This was Initialy due to lack of awareness and improper information as to the advantages of designing and constructing such projects. Fortunately, the awareness is now spreading and evidence can be seen amongst the private and corporate developers where existing Structuresare now constantly being activities than the buildings were originally designed to. In consequence, users of such renovations are being faced with problems ranging from inadequate parking facilities, to inefficient circulation pattern, to structural defects. The main focus of this thesis therefore is to investigate this resultant problems especially those involving conflicting functional requirements which manifest from the combination of wide ranging activities under the Sarne roof i.e. inside one single building. From the research findings, the author proposes through the design, a highly functional and efficient mixed-use structure that is free from such conflicts, which can then be used as a basis for reference by would-be Mixeduse designers and developers in future.
