The study examined the influence of social class and parental support on student‘s academic achievement. An Export-factor design approach was used for the study. The main instruments consisted of a structured questionnaire and an academic achievement test which was administered to the students who responded to the instrument. A total of 291 students from selected Junior Secondary Schools within Sabon Gari local government area of Kaduna State were selected through a random sampling for the study. Data collected were subject Version 17(SPSS). Variables investigated were parental support, gender and academic achievement of the Junior Secondary School students. Apart from the use of frequencies and percentages, five hypotheses were tested using the Spearman rho correlation procedure. This was to find out if there was any significant relationship between social class, parental support, and academic achievement of students. The results showed that social class did not have significant influence on the students‘ academic achievement but parental support was found to have a significant influence on the academic achievement of students. In the observed influence of the parental support, male students were found to be more positively influenced in their academic achievement than the female students. On a separate test, the two investigated variables did not significantly influence the performance of the female students in the test. Based on the findings of the study, the researcher recommended among others that parents should generally be interested in their children‘s academic achievement by asking about their progress, and the routines in the schools. That as much as possible parents should assist in the provision of conducive atmosphere for the academic achievement of their children especially after school hours where such children reside in the home and that where possible, parents should assist in their children‘s home work as this will provide such children with enhance positive incentives. Parents should not allow their social status be a barrier for an opportunity to be with their children.en_US
