Abstract
That health is wealth, and leading a socially and economically productive and satisfying life, improved nutrition, good basic sanitation and safe drinking water, is more than adequate for the Nigerian populace in general and the Kaduna State people in particular to approach our health care delivery system from a primary perspective, and not otherwise. People die of one ailment to the other every minute, not because of a mystery but because of the indifferent posture of the Kaduna State Ministry of Health to look at health primarily. Village populations in general and the Kwoi people and her environs in particular suffer from diversified attacks of diseases, epidemics and endemics, not because of the absence of health centers per se, but because of ignorance and partly poverty. The technical know-how for tackling health problems from the grass-roots is not available. Therefore, the need for an integrated therapeutic milieu for the people will always have a pedestal to stand on, until investigative results as regards the need for turning a new leaf materialist, and something done. The diversified i n t e l l e c t u a l challenges involved in t h i s , presupposes a "meaning business" intellectual in-put in the bid to finding a lasting solution. Emphasis therefore will be laid on the preventive services rather than the drug centered curative environment of the present practice. v i i i The curative services will however be approached a r c h i t e c t u r a l l y so that the two can be housed under one umbrella. Certain sections where c e r t a i n e s s e n t i a l s deserved a t t e n t i on a r e out-patient department, diagnostic and t h e r a p e u t i c departments, Nursing Units, Administration, a n c i l l a r y services and most importantly PUBLIC HEALTH UNIT. Purposely going through t h i s t h e s i s for the simple fact or need of creating a conducive t h e r a p e u t i c environment for the health needs of the Kwoi people and her environs. Preventive s e r v i c e s which are the b a s i c s , are wished to reach the people for a grass-root solution of t h e i r h e a l t h attainment. Epidemic and Endemic cases are wished to be stopped with the presence of the center as it will aid reduce the spread of i n f e c t i o n through immunization, and promote effective nursing care. where Traditional medicine can be incorporated in the cent re, that will be done in order to a t t r a c t the people to t he c e n t r e . The drive for health for a l l by the year 2,000 A.D. can only a t t a i n fruition via primary c a r e . Lastly, to respect and honor humanity as the only strong "constant" of the living c r e a t u r e s. A r c h i t e c t u r a l l y , problems of f i r e p r o t e c t i o n , Noise c o n t r o l , t r a f f ic flow i d e n t i f i e d in h e a l t h buildings will be attempted to solve.
