dc.description.abstractThis study was an investigation into the Education Planning process in Nigeria, focusing on the Planning, Research, and Statistics Department of the Federal Ministry of Education. The instrument for data collection was the questionnaire and the study tested nine hypotheses. The major findings were: that there was crucial problem of lack ,of adequate and accurate statistical data, which were vital for planning purposes there was a gap between planners and policy makers in the formulation and implementation of plans; there were many socio-political and economic constraints affecting educational planning; there was no in-built evaluation system in the plans to assist in detecting deviations in plans; and there was low level of public enlightenment and less involvement of relevant interest and pressure groups. On the basis of these findings, recommendations were made to improve the situation.en_US
