Abstract
ABSTRACT Tourism i s d e s c r i b e d as an o r g a n i s e d form of t r a v e l from one place to another in search of pursuit that are of interest to the undertakers. The pursuits may be leisure, business, education, religion or curiosity. This project is aimed at providing a tourist centre for those tourists that are on leisure tourism or those that need relaxation after work or business. For the design of such complex/centre a study of tourists and their needs were made. Such needs include, providing an atmosphere that enhances tranquility, rest and entertainment, an opportunity to make contact with unknown cultures and an atmostphere that promotes close contact with nature and foreign customs hat with standard of home comfort. These aspirations are achieved in this design by. i. allowing the peculiarities of the site to dictate the pace of development. The peculiarity here is the city wall for which is integrated into the design as if it were part of it. ii. The scale and character of the design to reflect the immediate neighbourhood. This is achieved in the elevational composition and use of materials. iii. Introducing features to create identity such as the traditional sound conical chalets and rooms with thatch The traditional approach to the design also enhances the traditional architecture thereby evolving a new technique in the detailings and method of constructions, it therefore encourage further researcn into traditional architecture with the sole aim of providing and finding solutions to tne problems of weather conditions and any planning process.
