In the 1970s and up to the mid - 80s a number of institutions and policies were set in motion to create self-sufficiency in food and fibre production. But this desire has remained illusive and so, in 1986, the Federal Government had to deregulate the economy. After more than a decade of economic deregulation or Structural Adjustment Programme, (SAP) what has been its impact on the agricultural sector? This is the question that informed this study. To find out the impact of SAP on agricultural production in Kauru LGA. A set of questionnaires were designed to collect relevant data which will help in studying this phenomenon. The study covered 18 villages which were selected using stratified sampling technique. A total of 360 questionnaires were distributed, while 302 copies were duly completed and returned.
